Dapur Malaysia

Picture Smiths has worked closely with Dapur Malaysia since the early days of the business, sharing our knowledge and developing a distinctive brand that represents their cuisine and unique identity.

The restaurant concept is born from Valerie, the business owner, who learnt authentic cooking skills in her mum’s kitchen and has used her business acumen to bring something new and exciting to the local market.

Our objective was to create an impactful brand identity and a stunning creative execution which represents Valerie's personality, her Malaysian heritage, the values of the business and its specialist food offering.

It was important not to alienate the audience through overly expensive presentation whilst reflecting the high standards, good ingredients and the authentic culinary craft.

Valerie began the business exhibiting at events and food festivals so creating big impact was crucial in a crowded market, our point of sale achieves this whilst saying delicious, charming and relaxed. Our branding had to engage the audience to sustain the interest of current customers whilst attracting a new audience.

Dapur Malaysia has now entered a new era and has opened an 80 cover restaurant in Chapel Allerton, Leeds. Picture Smiths have worked closely with the team throughout this journey from finding a suitable site, to refit and launch campaign to firmly position the brand as a strong addition in this well established dining location.

I have a fantastic relationship with the team at Picture Smiths, they really are an invaluable resource to me. Having worked with them since the early days of business, we've shared the challenges and joys of establishing a new business which has led to me realising my ambition to open a restaurant of my own in a well respected area. I would say to anyone who is embarking on a new business venture that it's so important to have a reliable, knowledgeable and creative team by your side to support you on your journey.
