A Golden Start

We have a soft spot for independent little gems, so we were delighted to be approached by a new concept store and eatery for children and adults, set to open in Brighouse.

Golden Linings is a family-run business bringing a unique offering to the town, with a store that is beautifully relaxed and offering an inspiring retail range of toys, gifts and children’s clothes. It presents a new option for a place to visit with little ones and its casual menu has a thoughtful take on eating one handed whilst holding a baby. Attention to detail by owners who are experienced mums of young children, is all gorgeously presented in cosy surroundings, with an alfresco space to enjoy on sunny days.

The branding we created is friendly, playful and with a lifestyle feel designed to engage a target family audience. In our creative we see a sunrise in a distinct mustard yellow. This plays the lead to a colour palette purposefully toned down, with ‘scandi’ design notes, in a considered move away from the more obvious primary colours. A monogram ‘G’ delivers just the ticket for fun application across branded components and a set of illustrations adds personality-filled modular longevity in brand. Tone of voice is empowering, caring and fun – and we look forward to seeing ideas come to life in further chapters for educational wellbeing events in their events space. Lucky Brighouse having this  lovely new spot on its High Street.

“We went to Picture Smiths with a concept and they turned it into an identity. They listened to our story and encapsulated it, presenting it back to us with an enhanced focus on our values and aspirations, in a way perfect for our marketplace. As a start-up business it is invaluable to have external perspectives, and PS enthusiasm for our journey boosted our confidence. It was a pleasure working with Alex and Niove and we will definitely continue our development with them.”
