Makers Mill

Food & Drink Hospitality Leisure

It feels as though Maker’s Mill was forged rather than designed. Taking its cue from the raw character of the building, we created a brand identity that feels shaped by its industrial past, with layered textures, strong graphic forms and a sense of something made by hand. There’s a nod to the roughness of the mill itself, balanced with the warmth and craft that happens inside it.

At the heart of the identity is a distinctive monogram, developed to echo the character of the mill. It has an almost architectural quality, feeling like a mark that could have been stamped, cast or pressed into the fabric of the building. Across the wider identity, textural elements and a considered palette bring in the feel of a working workshop, with subtle references to ceramics and other traditional crafts.

The result is a brand with its own personality, but one that naturally sits alongside Devour, its much-loved sister restaurant in the restored dyehouse next door. Together, they share a sense of place, craft and Yorkshire character, while Maker’s Mill brings something more tactile, hands-on and proudly its own.
