A Summer of Foodie Festivals
Portaloos and Wellies
In the run up to the summer, we’ve been helping clients prepare for foodie festivals – working on a mixed pot of marketing activity and design, to help make their events go with a delicious bang. Here's what we've been busy cooking up…
Tractor Fest at Yummy Yorkshire - This July saw the inaugural ‘Tractor Fest’ at Yummy Yorkshire. We started work back in January, to concept the identity ‘Tractor Fest’ and to deliver a brandmark and marketing strategy. Over the ensuing months, we implemented marketing activity to reach our target audience both on and offline and supported Yummy Yorkshire with design of the event map and guide, t-shirts, ads, e-shots, promotional leaflets etc. The actual event was fabulous and thoroughly enjoyable. Camping was a sell-out, an estimated 14,000 people attended and the feel was distinctly foodie, with a fun family atmosphere. Congratulations to Yummy Yorkshire on orchestrating a fantastic event! We’re already looking forward to next year.
Yorkshire Day at Wentbridge House Hotel - Our client Wentbridge House Hotel celebrated Yorkshire Day in a big way, with a hugely successful event to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The best of Yorkshire produce was available to try and lots to keep the family entertained. Celebrity guests included ITV’s Jon Mitchell who headed up a flat-cap-flinging competition, the delightfully flamboyant Carl Wilde presented a floral demo, Yorkshire artist Ashley Jackson auctioned an exclusive painting and celebrity chefs Debbie Hall Evans & Stephanie Moon entertained the crowds with chef demos.
Picture Smiths involvement included the copy and design of all promotional material in relation to this event. As well as having a sit in the Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter of course!
Huddersfield Food Festival - With a handful of clients at the 2015 Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival, we’re looking forward to supporting them over the weekend with a visit to their delicious stalls. We’ll be visiting Dapur Malaysia for a bite to eat of authentic Malaysian cuisine, Bolster Moor Farm Shop for a nibble from their champion barbecue and Yummy Yorkshire for an artisan ice-cream. Phew! Better put our stretchy pants on…
Eric’s Garden Party - At the same time as Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival, our client chef Eric Paxman will be hosting ‘Eric’s English Garden Party’ in an enchanting country garden venue in Almondbury, Huddersfield. The event includes entertainment in the form of a charity floral demo to enjoy with afternoon tea in the day. In the evening, a summer jazz dinner will be served in a marquee, with live music by Winston’s Pennine Jazz. All to be enjoyed with the highlight of the party, which will of course be Eric’s award-winning food.
